Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is caused by the abnormal production of luteinizing and follicle stimulating hormones secreted by the pituitary gland. PCOS can cause excessive secretion of the male hormone in women by preventing regular monthly ovulation in the ovaries. 

The most important symptom of PCOS, which is especially seen in women in fertility period, is menstrual irregularities. What’s more, 70 to 80 percent of patients with PCOS have problems with conception because their ovulation balance is disrupted.

Healthy eating and weight loss in the treatment of PCOS

PCOS, which is seen in 10 percent of women, actually draws attention to the need for women to eat right and lead a quality life. The beginning and basis of treatment are proper nutrition and sports.

For PCOS patients, it is very important not to skip meals first. Because when you skip the meal, weight gain is triggered as more food will be eaten at the next meal. 

In additiondrinking plenty of water supports weight loss by ensuring feeling of fullness. Because insufficient water consumption causes rapid hunger, and this situation negatively affects insulin levels. Therefore, we recommend you to drink 8-10 glasses of water throughout the day.

On the other side, with low-carbohydrate diet programs, you can reduce the insulin concentration and thus have positive effects on hormone levels. What can be done against to overcome frequently seen sweet crises is to consume fruits and dried fruits with a low glycemic index.

High protein diet against high testosterone also has an important place in the treatment of PCOS. At this point, consuming white meat and lean red meat will be the right option. Furthermore, you should stay away from packaged foods and trans fats. Choosing cereal bread and increasing your fish consumption is also essential for a healthy nutrition and weight loss. 

Regarding the sports and exercise part, it will be appropriate to swim or take for a walk for 30 minutes at a low pace 4-5 days a week.
