Netflix prepares the biopic “Halston”, the series based on real events about the fashion genius

We had already announced it: Halston, the biographical series about the legendary American fashion designer, will arrive on Netflix in spring. Starring Ewan McGregor, we have the trailer and the release date.

The biopics are the order of the day. Both in film and serial formats, biographical films based on one or more real characters are a hit with critics and audiences. That is why Netflix has launched with the production of Halston, a miniseries about the fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, who knew how to turn his talent into a global emporium synonymous with luxury, status and fame.

Thus, fashion lovers will have an appointment on Netflix on May 14. In the trailer we can see Ewan McGregor in the role of the American dressmaker: “I have a vision. I am going to revolutionize American fashion.” Thanks to this first preview we have been able to know that the series will not only focus on his talent as a designer, but will also portray his temperament and his excesses, in addition to the New York of the 70s and 80s and the importance of the Studio 54 nightclub in which both Halston and figures like Liza Minnelli, Bianca Jagger or Andy Warhol spent endless nights.

Although the miniseries was created by playwright Sharr White, it bears the indistinguishable signature of Ryan Murphy, who is also listed as the series writer and director. He is the man of the 300 million dollars after signing an exclusive agreement with Netflix in 2018 for this value and creating hits like HollywoodThe Politician or Ratched, in addition to the iconic American Horror Story and American Crime Story.

“His name built an empire. His style defined an era. Halston makes his way as a fashion designer while his personal life is derailed,” reads the synopsis shared by the platform. In addition to Ewan McGregor, we know that Krysta Rodriguez will play Liza Minelli, Rebecca Dayan will play Elsa Peretti, Bill Pullman will play David Mahoney, Gian Franco Rodriguez will play Victor Hugo, David Pittu will play Joe Eula and Kelly Bishop will play Eleanor Lambert.
